Erica Akemi Goto

Research Scientist, Arizona Institute for Resilient Environments and Societies

Erica Akemi Goto is a Research Scientist with AIR’s International Programs initiative at the University of Arizona. Her current research topics focus on climate adaptation, resilience, and vulnerability in both Global South and Global North. In her research, she employs quantitative and qualitative methods and spatial analysis.  

Before joining the AIR’s International Programs, she was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at GLISA at the University of Michigan. During that time, she was part of the research and community engagement teams and assessed adaptive capacity and equity in small and medium-sized communities in the U.S. Gulf Region. Before that, she was a Research Assistant at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she earned her Ph.D. in Geography. Her studies focused on assessing risk, social vulnerability, and evacuation behavior in communities in Brazil and California.
